It makes me so happy to see so many people out and about in Wichita yesterday at Open Streets ICT.

I love all the Open Streets (Douglas, Nomar, WSU), but can we all agree we should do the Douglas one twice a year?

Barry Sanders Football Complex

I have been saying for years that we should have a statue of Barry Sanders.

Barry Sanders is one of the best running backs to ever hold the pig skin and he grew up right here in Wichita.

I’m not sure if there will be a statue, but there are now talks of a ~$38 million youth football complex at Dr. Glen Dey Park at 2801 N Grove St.

This is huge for the next generation.

Meritrust was proud to be part of Open Streets ICT, joining thousands of Wichitans for an afternoon of biking, walking, local businesses, and community fun along Douglas Avenue.

A hidden gem for Wichita's crafters! With JoAnn Fabrics closed, locally owned Faithful Remnants is worth checking out. Located at 318 S. Greenwood, this funky, family-owned fabric store has more than 4,000 square feet of quilting cotton, apparel fabric, yarn, sewing supplies and more. They even encourage customers to bring in their creations for show-and-tell! Stop by Thursdays from noon–5 p.m. or Saturdays from noon–4 p.m.

A 16-year-old Wichita entrepreneur is brewing up big dreams!

Meet Kim, the teen behind Kim’s Matcha & Goods, a new home-based business serving up matcha right here in Wichita.

She’s starting small but has big plans to grow into a food truck and eventually open her own café. Support a young local entrepreneur and keep an eye out for Kim’s Matcha & Goods!

ICT Restaurant Week

ICT Restaurant Week kicked off yesterday to support the Kansas Food Bank and all those individuals who are food insecure.

There are several food deserts in Wichita. That means they don’t have close access to fresh food and veggies, they usually just have a DG or convenience store.

ICT Farms is a local nonprofit looking to help close that gap and they will soon have a new HQ at the former Payne Elementary School complex at Harry and SW Blvd.
