Second Light & United Rescue Mission

Second Light Emergency Shelter is located at 1025 N Main St and opened earlier than expected over the weekend (and open until tomorrow morning) due to colder temps.

Union Rescue Mission will also make sure to be open and increase capacity when temps drop to 25 degrees or lower during the day or nighttime temps below freezing.

CIVIL

Trail Bridge

Last Friday, a new bridge opened up for Redbud Trail at 11221 SW US 54/400 Augusta.

After this, the last four miles of trail between the bridge and Augusta will be constructed, officially connecting Andover to August by Redbud Trail.

Phase 4 Parking

Installation of the paid parking signage for phase 4 began this week and is expected to be completed by the end of November. Phase 4 addresses the remaining streets in the downtown area where paid parking has not been implemented.

You can run, but you can’t hide. You will eventually have to pay for parking.

29th & Grove

There is now a formal 10-year plan for cleaning up the toxic chemicals in the groundwater at 29th & Grove after the City Council approved the plan.

Crown Uptown

After the Wichita City Council unanimously voted to approve rezoning for College Hill gem last week, Crown Uptown can now hold up to 860 people. Anything over that would require additional things like meeting international fire and building codes, not zoning requirements.

Joe Walsh

The VetsAid Concert at INTRUST Bank Arena is this Saturday 11/15!

It includes Joe Walsh (best known as a member of The Eagles) who is also a Wichita native, amongst many others.

The goal of this concert is to benefit veterans’ service organizations.

Age Group Winner Film

In honor and homage to Jay’s achievement of running 52 marathons in 52 weeks, the film is set to play 52 theaters across the country on a unique roadshow exhibition.

As a native of Wichita, the city plays a pivotal role in Jay’s life and a major set piece in the film, which shows his run of the 2018 Prairie Fire Marathon.
